Translations and translation management – a focal point of the hoffmeister-komm
Translations and translation management in recent years have become a central business area for hoffmeister-komm.
Dr. Ulrike Hoffmeister translates from English, French and Dutch into German and offers translation management including quality check, editing/proofreading in cooperation with “native speakers” of other languages. Previous language combinations: from German to English and from English to Spanish, French and Italian.
We offer other language combinations in cooperation with experienced translators (native speaker of the source language) and proofreaders, upon request. Please ask us if you are looking for language mediators for less known languages in this country. We would be happy to look for suitable candidates in this area for you.
The areas of expertise for the translations include a wide range of “general and technical translations” – only novels have not been an issue so far…
Review and texts on the basis of in-depth research
In the second half of the year 2017, an extensive chronology was written based on historical research for an association in the agricultural sciences/animal nutrition sector.
Another focal point was the editing of a 400-page scientific work (dissertation) in the field of business management/health care. A summary of this work was coordinated, executed and edited in co-operation with an English native speaker.
The animal nutrition portal nutriani.de is online
Since August 1, 2016 the information portal www.nutriani.de, iniated and operated by hoffmeister-komm, is open. Here are current issues on nutrition and feeding of farm animals in the focus. So an information gap in the German agricultural journals, where animal nutrition is only „co-treated“, is now closed.
nutriani – the name is derived from nutrition and animal – concentrates on animal nutrition, physiology and feedstuffs from all over the world, the language is mostly German (often after translating from English or French). This also applies to the dates in the rubric events „Veranstaltungen“.
Press releases concerning the start of nutriani.de in English and German can be found here: www.nutriani.de
And the winner is…
On April 22nd a key visual designed by Ulrike Hoffmeister won a contest at 99designs. 22 graphic designers with 65 designs in total had taken part in the contest. According to the briefing, a key visual for the Project Group for Automation in Medicine and Biotechnology, PAMB, in Mannheim (https://pamb.ipa.fraunhofer.de) was to be designed. This group was founded by the German state Baden-Württemberg and the Fraunhofer Society to improve and increase the degree of automation in medicine and biotechnology. “Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization.“
Visit of the Ostsee-Zeitung in Rostock
At the end of March the editorial office and team of the Ostsee-Zeitung, a regional newspaper in Northeast-Germany (near the Baltic Sea) stationed in Rostock, were visited. This visit served as the final lesson of a course about the basics of Marketing, PR, and advertisement, which Ulrike Hoffmeister gave at the Volkshochschule (VHS) Rostock, an adult education centre.
The photos show Thomas Pult, vice editor-in-chief, Dr. Marion Vogel, general manager of the VHS (right photo in the middle), and participants of the course. We got detailed information about the making and writing of the newspaper and about the Ostee-Zeitung in general (photos: Hoffmeister).
A new round of the course about marketing, PR, and advertisement as well as a single speech with the provocative title “Marketing is advertisement, but what is PR? – Shedding some light on the jungle of terms and definitions” will be held again in October/November 2015. More information (in German) is available at Volkshochschule Rostock, or you can ask Ulrike Hoffmeister directly.
